Location of Sri Narayani Peedam
The Sri Narayani Peedam is located in Malaikodi, a small village
about 8 kilometres outside the town of Vellore, and about 145 kilometres
from Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is surrounded
by mountains and lush, scenic beauty. It has a typically warm climate;
from February to July it is hot and the temperature ranges between
35 – 45 degrees Celsius. The monsoon (rains) comes in from
July to October and the temperature ranges between 28 – 35
degrees Celsius. It is cooler from October to January when the temperature
ranges between 22 – 28 degrees Celsius.

How to get to Peedam
From Outside India:
Ground travel arrangements to Peedam can be made by emailing in
advance to the appropriate contact mentioned above; all you need
to do is arrange for your flight to the Chennai Airport. The contact
will arrange with the administration at Peedam for travellers to
be picked up at the Chennai Airport and transported to the Peedam.
It takes about 3 hours to get to Peedam.
For those who are not comfortable with night driving, arrangements
can be made to stay overnight at the Radisson Hotel in Chennai at
your own expense. Arrangements will be made to have you picked up
the next day from the Radisson and taken to the Peedam. Road transportation
to the Peedam costs about 2000/-Indian Rupees
From Within India:
By train: Take the train to Katpadi which is the nearest
station to the Peedam. From the station take a bus or car to Sri
Narayani Peedam via the town of Vellore in the direction of Usoor.
By car: Drive to the town of Vellore and take the road
in the direction of Usoor to Sri Narayani Peedam.
Accommodations
Arrangements for accommodations at the “Kamala Nivaas”
(Peedam Guest House) depending on the availability of rooms; can
be made by emailing in advance to the appropriate contact mentioned
above. The accommodation which costs about 750/-Indian Rupees a
day includes bed, bath and 3 meals. This Guest House is about two
minutes walk from the Peedam.
Dress Code
Dhoti or Kurta Pyjamas for men, Salwar suits or Sarees for women,
children can wear anything that is comfortable but modest.
