Sri Narayani Proclamation Day - 17th Anniversary Celebrations

It was a glorious and hot summer's day on Friday, May 8th 2009. Crowds of devotees gathered at the Sri Narayani Peedam anxiously waiting to participate in the Sri Narayani Amma Proclamation Day 17th Anniversary celebrations.


 
 

After the first pujas of the day, Sri Sakthi Amma conducted a special yagam in front of the Swayambhu Temple with several of the temple priests.

Devotees from all around the world came to participate in the celebrations

 

Shortly after this Beloved Amma arrived at the Yagashala and lit the lamp to commence the celebrations. As part of the celebrations a devotee was blessed with the opportunity to perform pada puja on Amma.

After the pada puja, all the devotees gathered in procession at Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School. The procession started at the school moving towards the Swayambhu Temple at the Sri Narayani Peedam.

The procession consisted of the two temple elephants Vaishnavi and Karpagam leading the way, followed by several prominent Peedam staff members, the Chenda Melam from Kerala and the Peedam Nadaswaram, the priests chanting the Vedas, Smt. Jothi Ammal and the 10,008 devotees.

On reaching the Swayambhu Temple, Beloved Amma performed the first kumkum abhishekam on the Swayambhu Amman in the Swayambhu Temple. After Amma, Smt. Jothi Ammal did the abhishekam followed by the thousands of devotees each taking a turn to perform the kumkum abhishekam on this auspicious day.

By 8:00pm the celebrations came to close with Sri Sakthi Amma performing the last abhishekam, decorating the Swayambhu and doing the arathis.
